Although Pumpkin pie is a traditional food in Halloween festivities, it can be quite complicated to make and put together.<\/p>\n

Opting for an \u201ceasy\u201d recipe such as some \u201cspooky\u201d cookies will help to keep the kids entertained.<\/p>\n

The cookie recipe states: \u201cGet the kids excited for Halloween with these spooky bat and spider cookies.<\/p>\n

\u201cCompletely with squashed flies made from chocolate chips, they\u2019ll be a big hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The recipe will take under an hour from start to finish and should make around 20 cookies.<\/p>\n

Ingredients:<\/b><\/h3>\n

For the cookie:<\/b><\/h3>\n

150g butter, softened<\/p>\n

50g caster sugar<\/p>\n

100g light brown sugar<\/p>\n

One tsp vanilla extract<\/p>\n

One large egg<\/p>\n

250g plain flour<\/p>\n

1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/p>\n

100g milk or dark chocolate chips<\/p>\n

To decorate:<\/b><\/h3>\n

60g dark chocolate, melted<\/p>\n

60g royal icing sugar, mixed with two tsp water<\/p>\n

20 Maltesers<\/p>\n

Five cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies<\/p>\n

10 caramel-filled chocolates<\/p>\n

Method:<\/b><\/h3>\n

Start by preheating the oven to 180C or 160C Fan and lining two baking sheets with parchment paper.<\/p>\n

Beat the butter and sugars together with an electric whisk before adding the vanilla and egg and mixing again.<\/p>\n

Slowly stir in the flour and baking powder with a wooden spoon until you have a dough, then fold in the chocolate chips.<\/p>\n

Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and roll into balls before arranging them on the baking sheet, making sure they are spread out.<\/p>\n

Press the tops of the cookies down very slightly using the bottom of a glass and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden around the edges.<\/p>\n

To make the spider cookies, lay 10 of the cooled cookies out and spoon the melted chocolate into a piping bag, with the royal icing in another.<\/p>\n
