The budget retailer has warned customers not to eat certain batches of one of its frozen chicken products.

A statement issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) read that Lidl GB recalled the Red Hen Battered 25 Chicken Dippers because they may contain pieces of “hard blue plastic”.

The FSA explained: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).”

In this case, the retailer has urged people who have purchased affected batches of the item to return it to stores for a full refund.
