Princess Anne’s “unroyal” diet seems to be keeping her on top form while she’s still dedicated to her official duties as a senior member of The Firm.<\/p>\n
The royal, aged 73, has been consistently ranked as one of the hardest-working royals every year and is still out-performing her younger counterparts.<\/p>\n
The princess is known for liking practical, healthy and vitamin-rich foods which seem to be keeping her in peak condition.<\/p>\n
While the Royal Family like to keep their personal lives private, some details of the princess’s breakfast diet have become known over the years.<\/p>\n
And her favourite breakfast foods seem quite unique, like overly ripe bananas and… kippers.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: <\/strong> ‘Misleading’ Meghan slammed for wearing diamonds grown in lab on royal trip<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Former royal chef Darren McGrady explained while speaking to TODAY: “Princess Anne almost always preferred the bananas almost black – overripe – because they digest easier.”<\/p>\n The Princess Royal, much like her late mother, also eats kippers for breakfast, which is packed full of nutrients and contributes to health and longevity.<\/p>\n Her love of the salty fish was revealed by a complimentary letter she previously sent to Fortune Kippers, a 140-year-old company based in Whitby, Yorkshire.<\/p>\n The company\u2019s website revealed the accolade the Princess Royal gave them, which read: “Members of the Royal Family have also been known to enjoy our kippers and HRH Princess Anne has written to Barry and Derek telling them how much she enjoys their kippers.”<\/p>\n Kippers are a salty, oily fish, that are most commonly eaten at breakfast time.<\/p>\n They can be served on their own or with eggs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Queen Elizabeth II was also believed to be a big fan of kippers and would enjoy them regularly and often.<\/p>\n According to former royal servant Charles Oliver, they were one of the late monarch’s favourite breakfast foods, as he wrote in his book ‘Dinner at Buckingham Palace’.<\/p>\n He revealed the late monarch “has been partial to kippers since the war years” and that when she and Princess Margaret were exploring around different areas of Windsor Castle, they came across a “compelling aroma”.<\/p>\n Oliver wrote: “Fascinated, they traced the smell to its source and found themselves outside the private kitchen of Mrs Alice Bruce, then housekeeper at the castle. They politely knocked on the door and were welcomed into the old-fashion kitchen with its great iron oven range \u2013 and its frying kippers.
