As a kid I absolutely hated this recipe. Throughout the years it kinda grew on me. Now I like it. I left out the bean sprouts, and bamboo shoots.

Ingredients

  1. Chicken
  2. 2-1/4 pound boneless skinless chicken breast
  3. 1 large onion
  4. 1 cup English peas
  5. 1 teaspoons ground white pepper powder
  6. 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  7. 1 teaspoons salt
  8. 1/4 cup honey
  9. 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  10. Sauce
  11. 3 large red plums
  12. 1 cup light brown sugar
  13. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  14. 1 stick butter
  15. Last
  16. 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Steps

  1. Wash and dice the plums. Add the rest of the ingredients for the sauce and bring to a simmer. Stir often.

  2. Simmer 20 minutes then go on to the chicken.

  3. Cube the chicken, and season. Cut the onion into large pieces same with the peppers. Bring to a simmer.

  4. Add the rest of the sauce ingredients. Add the tomato paste last. Stir in and let thicken the taste adjust seasonings. Incorporate and let rest for 15 minutes covered.
