Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 Tablespoons flour
- 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- Sauce:
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cup mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 can cream of mushroom
- 1/2 cup marsala cooking wine
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
- 8 Tablespoons mozzarella cheese
Steps
Place 4-6 pork chops on wax paper and season on both sides with salt and pepper. Lightly dust with flour until covered on both sides. Preheat oven to 350°F.
Add oil to cast iron skillet and set to medium heat. Place pork chops in cast iron skillet and cook on each side until brown, 3-5 minutes. Remove pork chops and place in baking dish.
Add butter, mushrooms, and garlic to cast iron skillet. Scrape the bits from the bottom as the butter melts and mushrooms get tender, 2-4 minutes. Add cream of mushroom and marsala wine. Cook on low-medium heat until well blended and smooth, 2-4 minutes.
Smother the pork chops with the mushroom marsala sauce. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in oven until pork chops reach internal temperature of 145°F, around 30 minutes.
Take from oven and remove aluminum foil, add a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese to each pork chop and return to oven until melted, 2-4 minutes.
Remove from oven and serve with rice or noodles and a favorite vegetable.
