While I was checking out Cardena’s Market I picked up a bottle of chili Negro sauce. It’s ridiculously good!So this time around I picked up some ingredients to make my own. Didn’t replicate what I purchased but still good! ?
Ingredients
- 6 chopped Negro chili's
- 1 bunch cilantro
- Juice if 1 lime
- 1/4 cup vinegar, I used Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 cups water
- 1 heaping tbsp Achiote Roja
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 grilled apple, quartered, cored, and skinned
- Vitamin C, optional
Steps
This is what I purchased and was trying to mimic. Got kind of close but good nonetheless!
Rough chop the chili’s and cover with 2 cups of boiling water. Let soak for an hour.
Grill your apple and gather ingredients. Juice of the lime and the ACV.
All in the blender and blend it!
Now have to cook it since raw ingredients are involved. For an extra precaution against spoilage I add 1/2 tsp vitamin C, ascorbic acid. (FYI, this works in homemade breads too.) Bring to a boil and then let cool before refrigerating.
