Adele may be best known for her huge voice and Grammy award-winning albums, but in recent months the Rolling in the Deep singer has wowed her fans with her dramatic weight loss journey. The star dropped a whopping seven stone, revealing her new look on Instagram with a photo to celebrate her 32nd birthday. But how did she do it?

There has been a lot of speculation over her weight loss transformation, but sources have put it down to a modern diet plan.
Adele is said to have lost the weight by following the Sirtfood Diet, which is considered a more restricted version of the healthy Mediterranean diet.
The diet was created by two celebrity nutritionists from the UK, and involves calorie restriction as well as eating foods that are thought to have an effect on your metabolism – also known as “sirtfoods”.
“Sirtfoods” contain “sirtuins”, which are proteins that can affect metabolism and inflammation – as well as leading to rapid weight loss.
Foods that are listed in the diet, which was outlined in the founders’ Sirtfood Diet book, include kale, onions, buckwheat, matcha green tea and walnuts.
Even red wine and dark chocolate are on the menu though, so despite the low calorie plan it does contain some treats.
The diet is designed to be followed in phases; phase one is one week long and is the hardest.
It involves eating just 1,000 calories a day for the first three days – which is done by drinking three special green juices and just one meal.
The calorie intakes then upped to 1,500 a day for the rest of the week, with the goal being to lose seven pounds in seven days.

After that you can move on to a maintenance period for two weeks, with three meals a day based on sirtfoods plus one green juice.
The three-week plan can then be repeated whenever you feel it is necessary or you want to lose more weight.
But while the foods in the diet have been identified for their “sirtuins”, most of the list could also be considered superfoods.
From green tea to dark chocolate and even coffee, many of the approved sirtfoods have health benefits – and the founders have pointed out one spice that is particularly beneficial.
Taking to Instagram on their official Sirtfood Diet page, the founders recommended adding fresh turmeric root to your recipes.

“If you haven’t got to grips with fresh root turmeric yet now is the time to give it a go,” they wrote.
“We’re not knocking the powdered version that we all know and love, but there’s nothing quite like using the fresh root.”
The nutritionists posted a recipe for a turmeric latte, created by The Turmeric Co which sells ready-made shots of the super spice.
The experts use a lot of turmeric in their recipes, and shared their signature salmon dish in a previous post with the full recipe.
“This recipe, for Turmeric-baked salmon with spicy celery, taken from our recipe book, is a really neat way to get your daily fix of turmeric, simply by using it as a rub for the salmon,” they wrote.
Turmeric is a bright yellow spice which is traditionally used in Indian cooking, and is well known for its health benefits.
The spice is high in curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory effects, making it one of the highest-rated sirtfoods in the plan.
The golden spice has been proven to have weight loss benefits thanks to the curcumin, with studies finding that those taking supplements saw significant reductions in their body weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist and hip circumference.
It’s also a powerful antioxidant, but taking too much turmeric (such as in a supplement rather than as a fresh spice) can interfere with certain medications and conditions, so you should always check with a medical professional first.
