Dr Eva Orsmond is a Finnish weight loss expert based in Ireland. She owns a number of clinics in Ireland that offers a specialist service and a professional approach to the treatment of being overweight and obesity.

Dr Orsmond also often shares weight loss advice on her social media channels and regularly makes TV appearances, on both Irish and British television.

The weight loss specialist has recently spoken about which foods she avoids, as well as eats, to maintain a healthy weight.

She also advised her customers to stick to these diet habits too, in order to lose weight.

One of the most important types of food Dr Orsmond recommended that slimmers add to their diets is vegetables.

The doctor told RSVP Magazine: “I would always buy a wide variety of vegetables, such as celeriac, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and peppers.

“Vegetables are the base for all our diet plans at Osmond Clinics.

“They keep you full and give you the fibre that is so important for gut health.”

Eating foods that keep you fuller for longer is a good way to lose weight as it means it is easier to reach a calorie deficit.

A calorie deficit means burning more calories than you consumer in a day.

Dr Orsmond continued: “I cook a lot of stir-fries and use good-quality olive oil for that.

“We are having a good crop of olives this year at our Solar Alvura Health Hotel in Portugal so it looks like I don’t need to buy olive oil anymore as we can use our own produce instead.

“This is a dream come true after all the challenges we have had over the last four years.

“Our own olive oil – how wonderful!”

Dr Orsmond and her husband, Wyatt, own a five-star retreat near Faro, southern Portugal, named the Solar Alvura Health Hotel.

The weight loss specialist went on to describe one of her favourite dishes, which is quintessentially Finnish.

She said: “Mati is a Finnish delicacy collected from the white fish muikku, which is harvested in lakes throughout Europe.

“I would prepare this by first chopping a raw onion and combining it with sour cream and then adding the caviar.

“Next, I toast some white bread and spread it with salted butter.

“I then layer the caviar, onion and sour cream mixture and sprinkle it with black pepper.”

But Dr Orsmond also explained why she avoids certain foods.

One of these foods is bread because she “knows it’s not good” for her.

The weight loss expert added that she tries to reduce the amount of chocolate she eats too.
