Tony Bellew is best known for being a British professional boxer. He competed for 11 years from 2007 to 2018, and he held the WBC cruiserweight title from 2016 to 2017. Recently, the athlete has caught attention for something other than his amazing boxing skills. Tony has impressed fans with his trimmer physique, after losing an incredible 1st 7lbs. His weight loss comes after he peaked at 17 stone a few months ago, following his retirement from the boxing ring. However, he’s now back in shape and down to around 16 stone, thanks to embarking on a new fitness plan.

How did he do it?

Speaking of his weight loss journey, Tony explained: “I gained weight after retiring by living a normal life – I didn’t have that competitive desire to train anymore. Injury stopped me doing cardio too, which completely knocked me sideways.
“It’s been tough not having a big fight to work towards, but I don’t just want to be an unhappy, unhealthy rubber blob.”
He added: “Getting unfit was a problem that was only going to get worse if I didn’t address it. I needed a whole different wardrobe compared to when I was at fighting weight.
“I’d get a suit out for a TV appearance and realise it was too small now, so of course I was self-conscious and unhappy.”
At his heaviest, earlier this year, Tony weighed nearly 250lbs. Thanks to musclefood he was able to jump back down to 220lbs.
He said: “I’m much happier now I’m getting up, training normally on a day to day basis again and back in good shape.”
Tony previously felt self-conscious about being overweight before appearances on Sky Sports, as tailored suits from his days in the ring no longer fit properly.
However, he now feels a lot more confident in his body, saying: “I’m not someone that harps on and wants a big six-pack and all the muscles, so my exclusive exercise plan is centred mainly around strength, fitness and developing a winning mentality.”
