Both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are huge advocates for exercise, but what do their exact routines look like? Fitness and exercise machine retailer OnBuy investigated the royals’ exercise routines to reveal their favourite types of exercise. A spokesperson told Express.co.uk how royal fans can exercise just like Kate and Meghan from the comfort of their own home.

Kate Middleton Workout Regime

A spokesperson from OnBuy said: “Kate has been known to incorporate a generous amount of cardio and weights into her fitness routine, and is said to workout daily alone, without a personal trainer.”

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were spending most of their time in Norfolk in Anmer Hall, Kate would reportedly run as often as possible.

At the time Princess Charlotte was a baby, Kate would run with Charlotte in her buggy and their dog Lupo at her side, according to some reports.

Lupo sadly passed away in November 2020, aged eight.

Kate also spent the lockdown period at Anmer Hall, and Roberta Fiorito, the cohost of the Royally Obsessed podcast, said the Duchess most likely continued to go running in Norfolk.

“This is something she’s probably keeping up even in the cold weather with all of the time they’ve been spending at their Norfolk home,” she said.

The spokesperson continued: “She also enjoys going cycling with the family, as a way of spending time together and getting some healthy activity in at the same time.

“She also enjoys rowing.

“Though her workouts alternate all the time, her favourite technique is reportedly planking—with the Duchess employing different planks into almost all of her hour-long workouts.

“The three different types of planks that Kate employs are the normal front plank, as well as the side plank (held with your body on one side) and the prone skydive plank (involving lying on your tummy and gently raising your chest off the floor).”

Meghan Markle Workout Regime

The spokesperson also spoke about the Duchess of Sussex’s workout routine.

They said: “Meghan’s mother is a yoga instructor, so it comes as no surprise she loves to hit the mat and contort herself into poses regularly.

“She started learning yoga from her mother when she was just seven years old, hence why she is so advanced now.

“She uses the practice to keep her muscles lean and strong.”

When it comes to cardio, Meghan has also turned to one of Kate’s favourite activities – running.

“In terms of cardio, Meghan loves running and used to run almost every day, reportedly getting up at 4am whilst filming Suits so she could get her workout in before a busy day of work.

“The high-impact of running however has reportedly started to put a strain on her joints, especially her knees, so she opts for shorter runs on the treadmill instead of pounding the pavement.”

Meghan previously explained she tries to eat vegan and gluten-free food to stay healthy.

She previously told Best Health Magazine: “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.

“But at the same time, it’s all about balance.

“Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things.

“It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating.”
