While many slimmers like to go cold turkey when it comes to chocolate and sweets, losing weight does not necessarily have to mean giving up treats entirely.
It may not be advisable to eat bars and bars of chocolate every day, but there’s nothing wrong with enjoying it in moderation.
The recipe developer behind My Plantiful Cooking, Meesha, shared how to make Creamy Dark Chocolate Hummus, which contains just 44 calories.
It’s perfect for people who want to lose weight, or those simply looking for a healthy dessert.

Describing the “healthy sweet dip” Meesha said: “Rich, creamy, and decadent, this dark chocolate hummus is a must-have dip to have on hand!
“It is super easy to make and is ready in five minutes. Incredibly versatile and pairs well with crackers, fruits, and toast.”
The recipe requires no cooking time at all. It contains just five ingredients too, so in addition to being nutritious and quick, it’s also cheap – result.

Ingredients
1 ½ cup cooked chickpeas about a 15 oz can (cooked from scratch or canned are both fine – but canned is a lot quicker)
¼-1/3 cup maple syrup
¼ cup peanut butter or any other nut / seed butter
¼ cup cocoa powder or cacao powder
One teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Method
Place the ingredients into a blender or high speed food processor along with two tablespoons of water.
Blend for a few minutes. The mixture should be silky smooth. Add more water if needed, ensuring you do this just a tablespoon at a time.
The foodie offered an important hummus tip: for those using canned chickpeas, boiling them until soft before using as they can be pretty crunchy.
The hummus can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to a week. Divide extras into small portions and pop in the freezer for up to three months.
When ready to enjoy, let it thaw in the fridge overnight and give it a good stir before serving. Or, thaw it and run it in the blender for a few seconds to restore its creaminess.
