For those who live in the Northeast region (and some parts of Florida!), you know of the magical place that is Wawa. Sorry, Sheetz. Anyway, you’ll know that typically they’re either standalone or accompanying a gas station, but reports have confirmed that the first ever drive-thru Wawa store is in the works. This is huge.
According to a press release, the first drive-thru is set to be built in Bucks County, PA, at the intersection of West Trenton and Pine Grove roads in Falls Township. The 1,850-square foot drive-thru is enough to get this Jersey gal to willingly drive into the state of Pennsylvania, and that’s saying something.
Construction is said to be starting in August with a grand opening date in December, so consider this a holiday gift from the Wawa gods to you. The new location will offer 25 job openings to the community, four of which will be full-time positions. Although this is the first Wawa store of its kind, Wawa’s Director of Construction Terri Micklin said that this store will help be the blueprint for similar locations in the future.
“Wawa continues to test new store concepts with this latest drive thru format, providing an opportunity for our customers to still experience and enjoy their favorite Wawa products while remaining inside their vehicle,” Micklin said in the press release: “It is critical to provide new ways to access Wawa, increase convenience and provide new options for service.”
The drive-thru news had Wawa trending on Twitter, rightfully so. Guess I’ll catch y’all in the drive-thru line come December. ‘Til then, happy Hoagiefest!
