While the sentiment holds true for pretty much everyone, 2020 has certainly been unkind to the Taco Bell superfans of the world. Just like other fast food chains, the mas-living purveyors of the Fourth Meal decided to pare back their hours in the early days of the pandemic, which meant those Breakfast Crunchwrap cravings couldn’t be satisfied so easily.
With things getting “back” to “normal” (which I guess just means we’re more used to living with disease in our midst), Taco Bell has decided that the hungry masses can once again live mas during the mañana. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Taco Bell says more than half of its 6,800 US restaurants have now gone back to serving up the morning meal.
The decision comes after a period of time when a significant dip in late night and early morning sales while the world sheltered in place led parent company Yum! Brands to pare back the Bell’s hours of operation.

“The breakfast business is impacted when people aren't on the roads going to work," Yum CEO David Gibbs said back in late April. "They're not going through your drive-thru for breakfast as much."
However, the company says that breakfast is now “slowly rolling back systemwide,” though a timeline for when those breakfast burritos will be available everywhere has not been shared. That could be affected by how things shake out over the next month or two pandemic-wise.
Still, that’s a bit of good news for those who might be bummed out by some of Taco Bell’s other recent decisions. Though the Mexican chain has trimmed back its menu this year, its breakfast selections have largely been spared. Of course, the infamous Naked Egg Taco isn’t around, but that may be for the best.
