A West Coast restaurant chain is willing to pay a “bacon intern” a whopping $1,000 to taste test its menu items and, honestly, we’ve been training for this job our entire lives.
Farmer Boys, a farm-to-table burger chain with headquarters in California, launched the internship this year. The pork lover who wins the job will spend one day pigging out on Farmer Boys’ signature bacon-topped offerings and rating each strip of bacon for flavor and thickness, according to a press release.

“At Farmer Boys, we’re firm believers in customer feedback and listening to our guests, and we felt that hiring our first ever Bacon Intern would add another layer to that philosophy and help make our food as pork-tacular as it can be,” said Larry Rusinko, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Farmer Boys. “In addition to taste-testing some of our most popular existing menu items, we also plan to have the Bacon Intern try some of the exciting items we’re currently developing.”
The position officially opened Tuesday, August 6. Hopefuls can apply by posting a photo or video pleading their case to Instagram using #FarmerBoysBaconIntern and tagging @FarmerBoysFoods.
Considering throwing your hat in the ring? One thing to keep in mind: The position is based in SoCal, so you must be willing to commute. If you’re still interested, make sure you submit your entry by August 27.
