McDonald’s has done the nation a huge favour by releasing their world-famous sausage and egg muffin recipe, so Brits up and down the country can make it from the comfort of their own homes. People have been making their own and sharing the results on social media.
The hashtag #JustLikeMcDonalds has been trending on Twitter as people share their homemade breakfast.
One user said alongside a picture of a muffin: “McDonald’s may be closed but I’m not going to miss out on breakfast! #Homemade #McMuffin”.
Another did the same and posted: “Yes, I made my own McMuffin because I miss McDonalds [sic] that much.”

How to make sausage and egg McMuffin
The recipe calls for only five ingredients, all of which can be bought in the supermarket.
You will need:
• English Muffin
• 75g of Sausage Meat
• American cheese slice
• 1 potato (optional)
McDonald’s instructs people to toast the English Muffin until golden brown.

Next, the sausage meat. For this step, you need to season the meat with a pinch of salt and pepper then shape it into balls.
Flatten into patty shapes and cook under a pre-heated grill for six to seven minutes on each side (or as per instructions on the packaging.)
Take the eggs next, and brush the inside of a metal ring with a little oil and place into a small frying pan.
Pour in just enough water to cover the base of the pan then bring to the boil. Crack the eggs into the rings, cover the pan and cook on medium heat for two to three minutes.
Take the American Cheese slice when it’s time to assemble your muffin, and lay it on the bottom of the muffin, adding your patty followed by the egg on top.
If you want to make the hash browns, McDonald’s advises you to start by grating the potato into a bowl.
Mix in an egg then season with a dash of salt and pepper.
Next, heat a glug of oil in the pan then add spoonfuls of the mix. Flatten and cook the mixture until golden brown on both sides.

When will McDonald’s open again?
A fake post recently circulated claiming that McDonald’s would be opening its doors again after closing for just one week.
The false post read: “We’re reopening again! Mc Donald’s have decided to re-open all UK branches from Monday, April 6.
“All branches will only be able to offer Drive Thru or takeaway.”
The post reportedly went on to state that social distancing measures would be put into place, and customers would only be able to queue two metres apart.
The post, which is believed to be an April Fool’s joke, spurred some eager fans to ask the fast-food giant if the claim was true.
McDonald’s proceeded to issue a Facebook statement which read: “Lots of people getting in touch about a certain post circulating tonight.
“It’s fake, we are not re-opening next week and any official announcements would come from this page and would spell the brand name correctly…”
It is as of yet unsure when McDonald’s will open again, but any statement will come from its array of official internet pages.
