Food recalls are not often issued but they should always be taken seriously. Co-operative Food has urged customers to return a product that could be dangerous to consume. This is what you should do.

Co-op Sliced Curly Kale

Sliced Curly Kale has been recalled as it may contain thistles which would pose a risk for consumers.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) website states: “Co-operative Food is recalling Co-op Sliced Curly Kale because packs may contain thistle (spiky weeds).

“The possible presence of thistle makes this product unsafe to eat.”

The affected packs are 160 grams with any best before date between August 4 and August 11, 2020.

The fresh food item is sold in most Co-op stores and those who have bought the product are being urged not to eat it.

Instead, it can be returned to the store during a shopping trip for a full refund.

The FSA website continued: “If you have bought any of the above products do not eat it.

“Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund when next visiting for groceries and other essentials.

“Alternatively contact Co-operative Food careline on 0800 0686 727 or email [email protected]

Point-of-sale notices have been issued by Co-operative Food that will be displayed in all stores.

Food recalls are issued when a problem is spotted with a food product.
